Didier PLASSARD is full professor in Theatre Studies at the Université Paul Valéry (Montpellier, France). His research fields include contemporary drama and stage aesthetics, puppetry, avant-garde theatre, relations between theatre and images. He was awarded the 1990 George Jamati Prize of Theatre Aesthetics for his PhD dissertation (published as L’Acteur en effigie, 1992), the Jean-Cléo Godin Prize for Edward Gordon Craig: relectures d’un héritage (L’Annuaire théâtral, n. 37, University of Ottawa, 2006) the 2012 Sirena d’oro of the Arrivano dal mare! Festival (Longiano, Italy), and was made Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2015.

He was chief editor of the web-journal Prospero European Review – Research and Theatre (2010-2013), editor of Puck – La marionnette et les autres arts (n° 20, June 2014, with Prof. Cristina Grazioli) and of Art Press2 (n° 38, La marionnette sur toutes les scènes, August 2015, with Dr. Carole Guidicelli). With Agata Łuska, he is co-chief editor of the EASTAP journal.
